Sagardoetxea, is more than just a museum, it’s an experience, because it’s been designed as an interactive space with activities revolving around the history and manufacture.  It can also be a stroll where you can taste the delicious cider.

SAGAR BIKE

You will enjoy a bike tour along the Urumea river side, where you will know the secrets hidden by this cider river and you will arrive at Astigarraga, heart of the cider. At Sagardoetxea, the Basque Cider Museum, you will delve into the cider culture and enjoy a special tasting of txotx cider, derived from apples and some pintxos. You will return to Donostia having known this ancestral rite of our gastronomy. Txotx!

Activities that includes the experience:

Bike ride (without guide) from Donostia to Astigarraga through the bidegorri on the side of the Urumea river. See the route on Google Maps.

Guided visit of Sagardoetxea, Museum of the Basque Cider (Astigarraga): Introduction to the culture of the cider visiting the apple orchard and a guided tasting of cider to the txotx, derived from the apple (liqueur apple must) and two pintxos.

Bike tour (without guide) to Donostia through the bidegorri on the side of the Urumea river.

Museum and cider house

Visit Sagardoetxea, the Basque Cider Museum, before you go to the cider house and turn your visit to the Cider Territory into a complete experience. We suggest you take a guided tour of Sagardoetxea before going to lunch, visiting the apple orchard, the museum space and ending with a commented cider tasting. Afterwards, you go to the cider house to put everything you have learned into practice.

Activities that includes the experience:

Visit to Sagardoetxea, the Basque Cider Museum.
Cider, wort and liquor tasting.
Lunch / Dinner in a traditional cider house. Traditional cider house menu consisting of cod omelette, fried cod with peppers, ribeye, cheese with walnuts and quince and txotx cider.

Note: Transportation not included. If transportation is necessary, indicate this in the reservation observations (next step).

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday (all year): 12:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Sundays and holidays: 12:30.

Duration: 3 hours in total (1 hour visit to the museum + 2 hours in cider house).

In your own vehicle: parking in the center of Astigarraga (C / Nagusia) and in the industrial estate (C / Donostia ibilbidea). Estimated time from parking: 5-10 min.

By bus: From San Sebastian (C / Okendo) and from Hernani (C / Txirrita): Lines A1 and A2. See schedules. Estimated time from the stop: 5 min.

THE CIDER AND THE SEA (Donostia)

Relive the adventure of whaling by visiting the Donostia-San Sebastián Aquarium and discover the size of a real cetacean’s skeleton. After visiting the fish and sharks, the sea awaits us to enjoy a boat ride through the beautiful Bahía de la Concha. Did you know that the cider is closely linked to the sea? In the Sagardoetxea museum they will explain what was the secret of the sailors to avoid scurvy. To end the day, savor the local cuisine in a cider house.

THE CIDER AND THE SEA (Pasaia)

Arrive by boat to the Basque Maritime Factory Albaola and enjoy the construction of the Nao San Juan live, an exact replica of a whaling ship that sank in the waters of Red Bay (Canada) in the 16th century. Did you know that the cider is closely linked to the sea? Return by boat to the port of Pasaia and delve into the culture of the Basque cider at the Sagardoetxea, the Basque Cider Museum, where they will explain what the secret of the sailors was to avoid scurvy. To end the day, savor the local cuisine in a cider house.
